Any experienced player and enthusiast of action games is bound to recognize the name Liero. This simple but fascinating and compelling game is now available in the open source version which is fully compatible with the modern computers.
What is it exactly? Liero offers a fast deathmatch mode that requires great coordination as well as determination. In this mode, armed earthworms fight each other to death. The game has been inspirited by the original Liero and the Worms series, but in terms of ingenuity and brutality of fight it definitely surpasses both of them. Players have a wide arsenal of weapon at their disposal, from rifles, guns and missiles, to atomic bombs, sand bombs, exploding cluster munition, napalm, flamethrowers, banana bombs and much more. The fight is taking place on one of the thousands of maps and all of them can be destroyed. Gameplay is very dynamic and requires a lot of concentration as our cute worm within seconds may be smashed into pieces.
The program’s interface is simple and operated by means of keyboard. Unlike the original Liero, OpenLieroX allows us to play via the Internet. A unique feature for this kind of program is its portability: OpenLieroX does not require installation and allows us to play as soon as we unpack the archive to a selected folder.
