GIMP 2.6.11

Everyone of us certainly needs a reliable tool for processing graphics. One of the best and free alternatives to a popular Photoshop, is GIMP. This application offers advanced graphics and image processing. It is also helpful in creating any Internet projects.

GIMP is as good as Photoshop. It has got almost all the options offered by its paid competitor and is constantly being developed.

The program is supported by freeware users who write various tutorials about its functions and potential. It is intended for both home and commercial use. It helps to create website layouts, advertising banners or other ads, not necessarily intended only for the Internet.

It effectively assists in creating posters, covers or any other advertisements. The program’s interface resembles that of Photoshop, but it may be divided into three different windows. It takes some time to learn the program’s functions and be able to take advantage of its full potential. The program supports the majority of graphic formats such as JPEG, BMP, PNG, XPM, TIFF, TGA, MPEG, PS, PDF, PCX, GIF or a competitive PSD.
However, we all know that PSD files may cause various difficulties. But if we want to save our own project, it is recommended to use a default XCF format, instead of the one from Photoshop.
