Managing a large number of documents is an element indispensable in any company. Relying on one’s memory and handwritten notes is insufficient here so it’s best to use an appropriate program. LogicalDoc is an Italia program based on the open source technology and offering comprehensive solution to the problem of document management.
Based on the Java programming language and the related technologies (GWT, Spring or Lucene), LogicalDoc allows the users to organize their work with documents in a given company. Thanks to indexing all documents, it is able to search them. However, this is not its only function: it can also import document directly from the ZIP archives, control the changes in the documentation, preview and mark documents by means of meta tags, create tabs and view the modifications. The application is integrated with the WebDAV network interface and contains, for instance, a discussion forum allowing the users to discuss to the document projects. It is a very efficient tool which considerably facilitates the work with documents.
Its interface is transparent and comfortable but its installation is intended for more advanced users. The Apache server is an integral part of the program. The program is possible to be installed on a single computer but this is done by means of the command line so those less computer-literate will not be able to install it. But apart from this drawback, the users will surely be able to take a full advantage of the huge potential it offers.
