The Guide 2.0

Text organization is one of the biggest problems troubling the computer users. Unfortunately, this problem is very common and concerns even the best office packages such as OpenOffice, especially when we want to organize our notes in a hierarchical structure using tree charts. Fortunately, however, there are applications which help us with this task, for instance The Guide.

What is The Guide? At first glance it is much like WordPad, but if we look closer, we will notice one important advantage: the content is organized by default into tree charts created by the user in the left-hand window. This seemingly trivial function is in fact a revolutionary option as it enables us to organize our notes in a clear, hierarchical way. This application bridges the gap between an ordinary text document and a mind map, taking advantage of the best elements of both. The program also allows us to format text similarly as WordPad, as well as edit the format of tree charts. As was already mentioned, the seemingly trivial functions prove to be extremely useful, especially for students who want to organize their notes before exams.

Its interface is transparent and comfortable and the installation is performed without any problems. This program is a specialized but comprehensible tool. The possibility of structuring notes and thoughts in a hierarchical way is simply invaluable. The program is very efficient, works fast and hence may compete with ordinary office packages. It is particularly useful for students organizing their lecture notes.
