Powerful software does not necessarily have to take the form of a large program with stunning graphics and irrelevant functions. nnCron Lite, created by nnSoft, is an example of a small but very versatile and powerful program.

This small application having only several kilobytes allows the user to manage computer processes by setting the computer schedule, creating scripts and automatically opening other programs. Apart from such typical options as opening program at a given time, displaying reminders and opening documents, the program also enables the user to start the application as system services, manage and restart the uncompleted tasks, switch off and hibernate the computer at a given time, restart the computer, etc. These are, of course, not all functions the program offers but only some of the most useful ones.

The program is managed by the user by means of .cron text file, based on the famous Cron application created by UNIX. As a small but versatile application, it is simply invaluable. Its author also made another version available – a more powerful nnCron, also based on shareware, not freeware. However, this version may prove to be too demanding for the average user because of its lack of the user interface and the necessity to use the program by means of text files. This program is addressed to IT specialists.
