At a first glance Hugin is only a tool for creating panoramas from graphic files. In fact, it is much more than that. This tool also enables the user to access a wide range of advanced functions.

Hugin allows the user to process photos, correct their brightness and exposure, white balance, generating HDR (High Dynamic Range) function, correcting the so-called vignetting (reduction of an image's brightness or saturation at the periphery compared to the image center) and much more. The program is based on graphic images introduced by the user but is universal: whether the photo comes form a digital or some other camera or is just a scan, the program will accept it without problems. The application supports a wide variety of lenses used for taking photos: from ordinary ones in-built in mobile phones, to the most peculiar lenses which produce the so-called fish-eye effect. Hugin also supports spherical and cartographical projections as well as camcorders. Thanks to Hugin a user may work on panoramas made of pictures in multiple rows with or without the so-called bracketing. Of course, Hugin also allows us to use photos of various exposure which are then normalized.
The program interface is comfortable and well-structured. It is quickly installed and does not pose any problem when using. The program is based on the Python programming language and the more advanced programmers may take advantage of its open source nature and adjust it to their own requirements.
