LenMus is a free, open source program licensed by GNU Public License and intended for learning music and developing music skills, regardless of the user’s age. The program evolved from a relatively small personal application to a wide set of tools and exercises for learning music.
The application enables the user to practice certain skills by doing exercises involving both theory and practice (developing the sense of hearing). All exercises are designed so that they can be modified and adjusted to the user’s individual needs. The program may adopt the role of a music teacher or simply constitute a set of tools for practicing music skills. It is equipped with a music editor enabling the user to write music.
One of the tools offered by the program which helps to develop the sense of hearing is an in-built synthesizer which allows the user to learn how to recognize and compare various intervals, chords, scales and cadences. The application also allows the user to practice the already possessed skills and its greatest advantage is that it lets the user learn in their own pace. The program allows the user to identify and create music clefs, build and analyze interval and learn all the skills mentioned above.
The program has got an excellent interface that facilitates learning. Its help is invaluable.
