In our everyday work with computers we have no choice but to use various passwords, whether to our mail box, Allegro account, accounts in other online services, Internet communicators, Battle.net profile and many other. We often encounter problems managing all these passwords and protecting them effectively. Luckily, however, there is a range of programs offering this function. Universal Password Manager is an open source application for everyone who needs a safe data manager.
The program is based on a password database which is protected by means of a single main password. Thanks to UPM we can save logins, passwords, Internet addresses, notes and other important documents we want to protect. Unlike a lot of the so-called desktop password managers, Universal Password Manager ensures efficient but easy password management for various platforms (it now supports Windows, Linux, Mac OS X and Android), with the additional possibility of synchronizing databases by means of the HTTP protocol and encrypted server. The program protects databases and their content by means of 128-bit AES encryption. Because it is based on Java and SWING, it is universal, powerful and reliable.
Its interface has been designed in order to achieve maximum efficiency at the minimum effort on the part of the user. It is simple, elegant but at the same time very powerful as regards the tasks performed. Its installation is based on automatically unpacked archive so it is a recommended solution also for the enthusiasts of portable programs.
